Manx Racer

Last Wednesday we spent the afternoon at Mallory Park race circuit in Leicestershire with a friend of ours who was testing the Yamaha he races in Classic events.  I will probably post a picture or two of him in time to come.

I was impressed by this chap on a classic 500cc,single cylinder Manx Norton as he was easily able to keep bigger, faster, modern Japanese machines at bay round the tight Mallory circuit.

This is my first attempt at this type of photography for at least ten years, especially with auto-focus equipment, and I was pleased to get several shots like this on the day.  Perhaps I might do a collage of the best during the next few weeks.

I managed to win a league print competition with this shot on Tuesday, 7th.October, 2008 at my Camera Club.

Damn fine shot Brian and a great bit of nostalgia. Will most definitely show my Dad when I see him. Many kind wishes, Neil.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Neil, I thought you might like this one.

Ahh!! A proper motorbike!! A superb action shot, Brian that screams SPPED! I like the motion blur and the framing is just right.
Brian Walbey: This is just coming out of the bus-stop chicane Alan, and the blur is natural not Photoshop.

Brian, you did a superb job here, so sharp and you left the speed in the picture too,, great framimg, you can be very proud here
What a pleasure to read this "Norton" word! You did a great job here! The subject is sharp with a nice speed effect. Good framing too.
Brian Walbey: Glad you like this Astrid, this is a natural speed effect, none of this PS stuff.

After 10 years, Brian, you have not lost your touch! )
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, I'm hoping to get the chance to do more of this in a few weeks time.
You clearly haven't lost the knack Brian. Let's have a few more full size shots before the collage!
Brian Walbey: There are two or three shots worth a further look which I will put up at odd times in the future Bill.

Amazing how you captured such speed with such clarity. Love how you've framed the motorcyclist.
Brian Walbey: I was lucky that the light was quite good at the time, and at that part of the track you look down on the riders a bit.
