Ropes - #1

I find the "bits and pieces" on canal boats fascinating, you will already have seen some postings in the past of this nature, and for the rest of this week I am featuring some of the ropes that I saw on the boats at the Loughborough Canal festival.

I liked the different colours of the ropes in the assortment set off against the lamp.

I LOVE boat ropes, Brian. I'm gonna love this series, I know. The 3 different kinds/colors of ropes really make this image for me.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, there's three more to see this week so i hope you enjoy them all.
Cracking shot Brian. Lovely sharp image with lots of colour and texture
Brian Walbey: I liked this before I even took it Bill if you know what I mean. It's fairly straight with some burning in on the ropes and a bit of dodging inside the lamp.

Great nautical shot with crisp detail Briansmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tracy, these Olympus lenses are pretty good at picking up detail.
Beautiful composition. I like the details and the colours contrast!
Brian Walbey: I had to ask the owner's permission to get on the boat to take this as it was away from the bank.

I like the different colours in this and the different textures in the ropes. Good to see real ropes there as wella s the nylon things.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, the owner was sitting on the bank making fenders out of "real" rope but I wasn't happy with my shots of him.

That's nice Brian, good combination of shapes and textures, and a picture that everybody's sure to like, after all, who doesn't like the look of rope smile
Brian Walbey: There's something interesting about rope pictures Ellie, no two are ever the same I suppose.
Nice detail shot Brian, I used to enjoy rope work when I was young, the crowning glory was always the Turk's Head, not often seen on a canal boat though.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Les, I used to play with ropes etc.in the Cubs when I was a lad. The only Turk's Head I knew was a local hostelry!
