photoblog image Coats #4 - Herring Gull

Coats #4 - Herring Gull

Taken at Lynmouth in Devon last June, this Herring Gull (Larus Argentatus) was sitting quite comfortably on a wall and didn't flinch when I poked a lens at him/her for this shot.

These are one of the more common types of gulls found round our coasts and tend to be scavengers wherever they are situated.

(I managed a Highly Commended with my 4th.March "Cor, look at that dad" at my club on Tuesday evening, quite pleased about that.)

Congratulations on that picture, it is a great one.....
and this one.....it says to me...I am the king of the beach.....I rule here...well done Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Astrid, these things get to be pests on the beach, especially if you are trying to eat something!
I think they're common world over. I think they're very beautiful. Very nice portrait.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your kind comments Mary.

well taken Brian. :o) John
Brian Walbey: Thanks John, this is going into a wildlife competition at my Club later this year.
Highly commended eh? Well done that man! I have a picture of one of these despicable birds on top of the car at Lynmouth!!
Brian Walbey: Hope the one on your car didn't leave its "calling card" behind Bill. There seems to be a lot of them at Lynmouth.

A well deserved award, a fine study of these pesty birds!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, I guess there are quite a few of these pesky birds down your way.

Great shot Brian. Bags of details and superb clarity.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for looking back at this one Ron, I'm quite pleased with it to be honest.
