photoblog image Landing Stage

Landing Stage

This was taken for the next competition in my Club entitled "Water".

We walked around a marina at Sawley near Nottingham on a recent Sunday afternoon but without my SLR I could only get a few general shots without the long lens.

Anyway, the colour and reflections in the water seemed quite attractive and the shape of the landing stage was quite good also.

If you like them this place is full of narrow boats.

I love narrow boats, to photograph..I have no desire to go on one! I might be tempted to crop the wall off the top.
Brian Walbey: Will try the crop Bill but I have already had a 15 x 10 printed for the competition.

I like the lovely reflection in this. The mooring posts make a good focal point and the rich texture of the wood adds to this.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan, it is the blue of the reflection I particularly like.
Agre with Bill on this Brian, crop of the distracting wall and you have a grand shot with a good reflection. Well seen, but the question is "What will the judge think?"

What club is it by the way, for my sins I am a member of Southport Photographic Society and we do have some interesting judges.
Brian Walbey: Thanks for your comment Les. I am in Shepshed & District Camera Club, I am the Secretary for my sins, and we have some interesting judges also. These days I worry more if I like it, rather than the judge.

good luck Brian, tend to disagree with the crop i feel the wall adds depth to the scene, should do well thoughsmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tim, mixed reaction to the wall then. I will leave it now as I have had a large print made for club use.
