photoblog image The Village Clock

The Village Clock

This was taken at Ullapool, an attractive and  small village on the coast in the Western Highlands of Scotland, on a dullish sort of day. I liked the design of the clock, especially against the white wall of the house.

After this it was time to go and find lunch, a must at this time of day!

I would have noticed that clock, too, Brian. It's a treasure.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, it's most unusual isn't it.

A clock and waethervane, you know how to make Ginnie happy for a week, I love it too, this is great composition, the colors in it are great.
Brian Walbey: I'm glad I've made you and Ginnie happy today Astrid, have a nice weekend.
A grand bit of ironmongery Brian, very ornate.
Brian Walbey: It's a bit special for a little village like Ullapool, I should have found out its history.
It is a delightful clock Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, you don't see many about like this these days, they've usually been vandalised.

What a lovely "ornament" to have in the town. I wonder what the contemporaries at the time made of it? Probabaly there was much clucking as they hated it! Good t oshow against the white of the house. Perhaps this would have been even better had you moved to the left to prevent one "arm" clashing with the window in the background.
Brian Walbey: Missed that placing against the window Alan, thanks for pointing it out. Glad you still like the picture though.

great shot Brian but will have to go along with Alan about the window, shame as its a beautiful clock, dare say that it wouldn't stay looking like that round were i livesmile
Brian Walbey: I said to Bill that it would have been vandalised round my way, wish I'd noticed the window bit you refer to though.
Charming picture Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris. More old than new charm.
