Charlecote Manor - Inside 5/7

All good country houses like Charlecote Manor had a Billiards Room for the gentleman in order that they could excuse themselves from the company of the ladies and enjoy a game or two, with cigars, Brandy and no doubt a good old chinwag.

stunning shot Brian! Perfectly captured with brilliant clarity.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frances.

Great photo I would love to play a rack or two on that table
Brian Walbey: So would I vintage, although these days I'm a bit rusty at either Snooker or Billiards.
A really lovely game room - you composed this nicely, and I'm guessing you had little space to move much!
Brian Walbey: Once again I had to lean over a rope to take this, plus there was an attendant just to my right which didn't allow me to get the other corner in.

Yes Brian, it would be most revealing to be able to hear those conversations
Brian Walbey: All business and mistresses I suppose!

Oh, yes, Brian...something we always see in the movies or series like Downton Abbey. As a woman, I would have protested too much...to join in the fun and games. Astrid, too. HA!
Brian Walbey: No doubt you might have both protested Ginnie but in those days women were seen and not heard, not that I agree with that personally.
we all would like a pool table in the house
Brian Walbey: Indeed although this is a Snooker/Billiards table that is quite a lot bigger than a Pool table, hence the big room.

I would not mind a game or two on this table smile
We always watch it on TV.
Great shot.
Brian Walbey: I used to play Snooker quite a bit as a young man, way back in 19??, but these days I'm very rusty if I get the chance of a game anywhere.
Billiards is a strange game. All that equipment to knock three balls about
Brian Walbey: I did used to play Billiards at a mens club I used to belong to but much preferred Snooker, more chance of hitting the ball smile

Now this is more like it Brian. I could feel comfortable in a room like this. I'd replace that picture over the fireplace with a flat screen to watch the cricket.
Brian Walbey: Yes a real mens room Chad, except the tele would be there to watch the MotoGP and Superbikes, bit more action than Cricket.
I expect they looked forward to rounding off the evening here enjoying drinks and smokes. Nice shot Brian
Brian Walbey: I guess they did Janet, but I presume they did rejoin the ladies later in the evening.

I'm with Chad on this over the cricket
Brian Walbey: I'm not, MotoGp or Superbikes, something with a bit of action!!!

All so immaculate, Brian
Brian Walbey: Indeed it Lisl, smart enough for the ladies to be in as well.
I like how you've even captured the spots where the varnish has been worn away by the generations of players who have used this table, Brian. A beauty of a games room for sure.
Brian Walbey: Yes a fine room for the gentlemen, but these days there are lady players equally as good as the top men in the world of Snooker.

Is it permissible to use the word Beautiful for the place reserved for Gentlemen? Hope so, cuz it is a beautiful room and beautiful shot. :o)
Brian Walbey: Yes I think that is a very suitable word Jennie.

I can just imagine the scene; the air thick with cigar smoke and the air filled with bawdy laughter.
Brian Walbey: And the clacking of balls Alan !!!

Tell me you played a little when no-one was watching, Brian...
Brian Walbey: NO chance Ray, a beady eyed attendant was watching everybody like a Hawk!!
