photoblog image Blickling Hall 2/5

Blickling Hall 2/5

The back of the Hall faces towards the North East looking out over acres of parkland and a large lake. The current Blickling Hall was built on the ruins of the old Boleyn property in the reign of James I, by Sir Henry Hobart, Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas and 1st Baronet, who bought Blickling from Robert Clere in 1616. The architect of Hatfield House, Robert Lyminge, is credited with the design of the current structure.

Happy Birthday to my wife Maureen who is 65 today.

That's an impressive pile of house bricks, Brian.

Happy Birthday to young Maureen. Are you going to give here a camera and a SC blog for her birthday?
Brian Walbey: A very impressive house indeed Ray. before children Maureen did have her own SLR and belonged to my camera club of that time. Perhaps I should scan some of her better slides and set her up with a freebie account.
Happy birthday Maureen!!!!
Nice shot of a great building!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth.

A happy age to be, Maureen
Brian Walbey: Sadly I'm a few years past 65, I wouldn't mind staying that age, but 70 beckons in a couple of hears time!!
A very happy birthday to supermodel Maureen smile
Brian Walbey: She says thanks Bill, a good day so far, our daughter and husband treated us to lunch at a lovely little cafe near where she lives, then they went to work and we went shopping smile
Congratulations Maureen ... I hope Brian does the 'oovering and ironing today.

Now about the image Brian ... It's nice and clean and smoothly presented.

Get it ?
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard. BTW you've used two words in the first sentence I don't understand smile
Another great view of this building. Birthday wishes to Maureen - 65 is now the start of middle age !
Brian Walbey: Thanks Martin. by your reckoning then I'm only just over middle age smile

I think they copied the design for the Tower of London Brian, well based it on that.
Brian Walbey: Very similar design to the main tower isn't it.
Such well maintained buildings are an attraction
Brian Walbey: Another National Trust operation Chantal.
Another splendid shot Brian. Happy birthday to Maureen and hope you both enjoy the celebrations
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Janet.
Truly amazing.
Jacobean?
Brian Walbey: Yes I believe it is Jacobean, it has that sort of look doesn't it.
Fine shot Brian and many happy returns for Maureen! smile
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Martin.

This seems to work very well in this light. I often think the duller days make things look more dramatic.
Brian Walbey: Thanks John, dull days do help with contrast as compared to bright sunny days, and here Topaz has added a bit of colour strength back in to the brickwork.

Oh dear, Brian. You're a dead man, giving away a lady's age. It was nice knowing you... smile I hope you're bought her something special; a new kitchen mop, perhaps? Hahhaha!!I've got another 2.5 years to go yet to get there. Those chimneys are wonderful.
Brian Walbey: Yes great chimneys aren't they. She's not unhappy about people knowing her age, nothing she can do about it, and she got plenty of cards with 65 on them.

This is a very fine photo of the brick Blickling Hall (built in elegant Renaissance style) - and your wife might also combine some lovely memories with that day- out. Happy birthday to her and the best wishes to her!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Philine. We had a good day on Maureen's birthday, sadly we remember it rained when we visited this lovely house.
This is a wonderful image of Blickling Hall Brian...

Happy Birthday Maureen!
You are the same age as Penny who turned 65 in August...
Now we both receive the Old Age Pension that we had paid for over 40 years....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter, I got my pension at 65 but Maureen got hers at 60. Our government is changing it so that within a deacde or so everyone will have to wait until they are 68!!
Happy Birthday to Maureen!
Fine capture of this beautiful structure.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Richard.
Loving it from this angle as well, Brian! Happy Birthday, Maureen!
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much David.
A very impressive bit of architecture, Brian. Very best wishes to Maureen - she's just a slip of a lass smile
Brian Walbey: Yes a very fine house Tom. Maureen will like the slip of a lass bit smile
