photoblog image Italianate Influences

Italianate Influences

Taken some years ago at Bodnant Gardens in North Wales which look out over the River Conwy to Snowdonia in the distance.

This is in the Italian Garden area and if things are right it is possible to get a great reflection in this lily pond.

It is well worth a visit if you are in the area being quite near to Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, and details can be found at http://www.bodnantgarden.co.uk/

Things were clearly right for you, Brian. I love it.
Brian Walbey: The sky was dull but the water was still Ginnie, I suspect on a sunny day it might have been a lot more contasty and difficult to handle.

Excellent use of the reflection to create symmetry
Brian Walbey: I was really lucky that the water was so still Stan.

I like the symmetry of this one Brian.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, I took several from different angles but this one worked the best. Mind you there is a hollow in the ground where everyone stands to take this picture :-D

Simply wonderful, Brian. The reflection is perfect, symmetry of lines and elements of water and architecture which delight my eyes
Brian Walbey: I'm almost overwhelmed by your praise Paul, I suspect you would like it here as much as I did.
Almost symmetrical around two axes. My only grumble is that the top of the tower touches the frame (or is even a little bit cropped).
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ian, I'm sure I cut the top off when I took the photo. Slap my wrist smile

I recognised that building immediately, Brian. Your treatment of this shot emphasises the decoration very well and the reflection and crop is superb.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Brian, a shame it was a bit of a dismal day although it helped to keep the contrast down a bit.
Brain: This is a seriously impressive image... Like it, well done.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ola, the whole gardens are very nice and in a wonderful setting.

Love the composition, the symmetry is so picturesque, like right out of a movie.
