Country Cottage Doors

The area of Leicestershire in which we live is called Charnwood Forest, more details here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charnwood_Forest and among the hills and the surrounding area are several very attractive villages with lots of country cottages in them.

I have taken quite a few pictures of some of these cottages, which tend to be a bit "chocolate boxy", so in this collage I am presenting just a few of the front doors instead which I hope you will enjoy.

Thank you Brian: a great idea well executed
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, we were walking round a local village a few weeks back and thought some of the cottages looked "pretty" so I took a few shots and this is what came out.

I'm sure you could make your own poster of doors, Brian! I've always loved those. So much personality in every single door!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, some of these cottages are really old with thatched roofs and are worth "chocolate box" pictures in their own right.

Great collage, this is a wonderfull topic/idea to picture, nothing so personal as these doors, you did a wondefull job with the presentation.
Brian Walbey: THanks Astrid, it came to me as an idea after a recent village walk and the photos I took that evening.
Great one for fans of the doors! Super collage Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, I'm not exactly a door fan myself but this collage just seemed to come together.
Beautiful and colourful doors patchwork Brian. You did a very nice collage job here!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, as you know by now I like doing collages, another one follows tomorrow.

This is a Wonderful collage, such different shape and coloured doors. The bottom left and right are winners for me.Thank you very much for this collage.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Vintage, they do make a nice pattern on the page laid out like this. The bottom left is a B.and B.and is very old.

What a wonderful idea, and so well executed Brian. Bottom right in white, my fave. So elegant and simple.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Paul, I did think of doing them as series but felt they came over stronger as a collage.
Great idea Brian. I like the red one the best ... it seems to be naturally part of the house where as some of the others are rather 'art farty' (if you get my drift) ... I've got a whole selection of doors that I have sort of planned for a series ... but mine come from the grungy end of the spectrum ... well you might of expected that from me.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Richard, I like the red one best as well. I look forward to your take on doors if you do it some time, your pictures are generally a lot more "gritty" than mine if you know what I mean.
Hi Brian, excellent idea. I think a midget must live behind the bottom centre door!
Brian Walbey: Lol Pat, I never thought of that idea about the midget, they must breed them small in this part of Leicestershire!
