photoblog image Croxden Abbey #1

Croxden Abbey #1

Not far from Uttoxeter on the A50 Derby/Stoke road is the tiny village of Croxden, and in that village is a ruined abbey, part of which is featured in this picture. The abbey is also signposted from the B5030 at Rocester.

Although now privately owned the ruins are looked after by English Heritage and there is no admision charge to go and look at them.

I will tell you more about the ruins tomorrow and Thursday.

How splendid that these ruins are free to the public, Brian! That's as it should be, IMHO. I am in awe of places like this and could spend hours there. I love your perspective and the B&W conversion.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ginnie, I am showing a different angle on these arches on Thursday.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Tim, I am quite pleased with it myself.
Great shot. The perspective is superb. I like the tones!
Brian Walbey: I felt that mono was correct for this Richard and the zoom was down to 28mm.equivalent.
English Heritage cares for a lot of our ruins and I'm very pleased they do. Nice shot Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill, hopefully you willenjoy the other two pictures of this ruin I am showing this week.

Good shot and good perspective. I like the arch at the far end with the hint of a landscape visible, just tempting you to come along.
Ingrid
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ingrid, it was a lovely quiet spot to walk around in at the edge of a village in the middle of the countryside.

That's nice, the mono always seems to look so good with old stonework.
Brian Walbey: I generally think that ruins do look better in mono or toned Ellie. Thanks for your comment.
