2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow. For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. My January, 28th.posting showed this window and its surround in some detail. I particularly liked this shot with only the window and the statue of the lady on the windowsill inside. The relfection of the wall behind me adds some detail to what might have been a dark area of glass.

For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. When my friend and I had our day out in Grantham last year and visited the railway station, among other places, we came across this lovely old building. I can tell you no more than that it was an old Catholic school, but several searches on the web do not come up with anything about this place at all.

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow. For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. Shepshed, where we live, was once on the Charnwood Forest Railway, long ago closed and dismantled. Quite a lot of the infrastructure is still in situ and there is a pleasant walk a few miles from the village which takes you under the viaduct at Grace Dieu, near the village of Thringstone. More details of the railway can be found here I have posted some more images, some from SC and some not, over the weekend. I f you want to take a look they are here

For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. Last year on 21st.May I posted an image of Thoresby Hall Hotel in Nottinghamshire, the pride of Warners Hotels collection. This is a shot of the Great Hall taken through one of the arches looking across to the Grand Staircase. Here one can sit and relax with a drink and read or just watch the world go by imagining you are back in the days when this was the home of a very rich family. Maureen is just left of centre in the stripey top reading a book. I have posted some more images, some from SC and some not, over the weekend. I f you want to take a look they are here

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow. For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. On 19th.September we joined with two friends and enjoyed a day out at the Statfold Barn Railway near Tamworth in Staffordshire. It is an entirely private railway, built on a farm, and they hold 3 Enthusiasts Days each year when their own, and guest locomotives, run a steady number of trains over the three mile circular route across the fields. This series runs until tomorrow and you can find more details about the railway at http://www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk/ This loco is Pakis Baru O&K No.1 returning from taking a group of passengers for a ride out in to the country. The route is laid out in the form of a big loop so each loco and train is effectively reversed each time it goes out.I have now opened a blog on Flickr with images that have appeared on SC and others that haven't and will not. You can find me here

2009 Retrospective - I had a number of images I took last year that I would have liked to have posted on SC but time didn't allow. For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. This was taken last summer during a visit to Rothley station on the restored Great Central Railway that runs between Loughborough and Leicester. There is an excellent tea room off to the right called Ellis's, which is open most of the time even when trains aren't running, which was the case on this day. At least I had the chance to wander about with the camera to my hearts content. As you will note this has had a bit, perhaps too much, of a twiddle. A friend of mine in my Camera Club puts some good images on his Flickr site and this one was in a competition at the Club last week. I particularly liked it and thought you might too.

For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. We had a competition in my camera club last November called "Space". I suspect the idea was things in the sky but only two entries reflected that idea. This was one of my entries which I took at Seahouses, Northumberland, last July. I didn't win with it. I called this one "Space for One." Oh, and by the way, I didn't put the bollards there. I have now opened a blog on Flickr with images that have appeared on SC and others that haven't and will not. For the time being I am posting a number of these, in no particular order, which I hope you will enjoy. During our July holiday in Northumberland we had a ride on the Heatherslaw Light Railway, which I featured in September, http://brianaw.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Heatherslaw_Light_Railway_/ The railway runs alongside the River Till at the foot of the Cheviot Hills and this was taken through the glass window of the moving train. This is the final image of those I took from the train during the journey.
