Hartlebury Museum 3/5

The Worcestershire County Museum is housed in the servants' quarters of Hartlebury Castle. The exhibits focus on local history, and include toys, archaeology, costumes, crafts by the Bromsgrove Guild, local industry and transportation, and area geology and natural history. There are period room displays including a schoolroom, nursery and scullery, and Victorian, Georgian and Civil War rooms.

This afternoon I am giving one of my periodical audio/visual presentations to the Ladies Fellowship at our church and to have a break from my photos I usually include something from YouTube. This time I am including the Flashmob video below, for certain most of the ladies won't know what a Flashmob is, I'm sure they will enjoy it, most of them like this sort of music. I would love the opportunity to take part in one of these things, it must be great fun, I sung this piece in a choir of 600-700 choristors at the De Monfort Hall in Leicester many years ago.

I really like how it's been presented... and your photos show it off well
I thoroughly enjoyed the flashmob!!! Thank you!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth, there are several of these in a row. Alan gave me a link to his favourite Flash Mob, I could use this video another time https://youtu.be/SXh7JR9oKVE

These pictures of ancient drudgery in the household are very instructive
Brian Walbey: Imagine having to spend all day working in this place just for the benefit of ones 'betters!'

So many things can be seen - it is very interesting to be in this museum - I saw similar ones in old English manor houses - you are the ladies' man - I wish you a nice afternoon!
Brian Walbey: This is an interesting little museum. I hope the ladies enjoy my presentation, they usually do.

We look back now at these facilities and just wonder how people coped but of course then it was the norm; they knew no different. Those "upstairs" were well looked after.

I remember Classic FM's opening day and I listen to it whenever at home. One my favourite flash mobs pieces is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXh7JR9oKVE

Trouble is once I started to look for a suitable one for today I just kept looking and wasted a lot of time, I really would love to be able to take part in one.

We like to look but are probably glad we weren’t around in those days Brian.

I love the displays and I am glad they could safe it form destruction to show how things were done in earlier days, Brian. Good luck with the presentation.

I do like that wooden mangle, Chad.
Brian Walbey: I seem to recall one of my Grans had one of those.

I once was in a local museum somewhere in our KZN. A lot of 19th century tools were exhibited - I was interested to learn that there is a difference between a potato and an apple peeler. You know, device where you stick the fruit into one end and turn a handle, that got the fruit (veggie) peeled. I thought it would be one type would fit all roundish things to be peeled. But not. Such is what I get to think of, when looking at your pictures.

My all time favourite flashmob https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBaHPND2QJg It helps that I like the Ode. Oh yes, there are others like Bolero or Carmina Burana. But Zadok is also a great one.
Brian Walbey: I've seen those two types of peeler you are referring to Louis, they were very clever with designs back in the old days. Alan gave me a link to his favourite Flash Mob, I could use this video another time https://youtu.be/SXh7JR9oKVE You might have seen it, if not enjoy.
When I look at these images, Brian, all I can think of is the amount of drudgery involved in their day to day lives.

Looks worth a visit.
Brian Walbey: They've got all sorts of stuff there Tom.

What a contrast this is to modern day living.

What a great video!
Brian Walbey: Imagine having to spend all day working in this place just for the benefit of ones 'betters!' I've watched quite a lot of Flash Mobs and this one seemed to fit the bill this afternoon. Alan gave me a link to his favourite Flash Mob, I could use this video another time https://youtu.be/SXh7JR9oKVE You might have seen it, if not enjoy.
The furnishings are very, very old aren't they. Yes, I have seen that flash mob. Excellent!
Brian Walbey: Imagine having to spend all day working in this place just for the benefit of ones 'betters!' The ladies at church really enjoyed the Flash Mob, none of them had ever heard of such a thing before.

a nice couple of images, Brian. i thought i saw some kind of speckle on your lens in the right image but then i realized it is perhaps some kind of a sticker or paint on the center of the barrel!grin
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ayush. It is a sticker of some kind.
My kind of place, Brian, for a photo op!
Brian Walbey: You'd run out of memory card at this place.
