Within the courtyard is this fine statue of the famous son of Nottinghamshire Robin Hood. You might recall my earlier shot of this sculpture here

Those saggy arm covers are going to cause him some frustration, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I guess that was the style back then.
I do like this sculpture!
Brian Walbey: Very good isn't it, of course Robin Hood is actually a childrens story but if he had been a real person this is probably a good likeness, there is a slightly different design statue of him below the castle in nearby Nottingham http://www.nottinghamnow.uk/the-robin-hood-statue-location-history/
Jolie statue.
Brian Walbey: Supposedly Nottinghams most famous resident but of course Robin Hood was a childrens story.

His fame is world-wide
Brian Walbey: Indeed Chris and a big money-spinner as well, Nottingham uses him a lot in their tourist publicity.
A legend just like you Brian
Brian Walbey: I don't know quite how to reply to that Bill, I'd always thought you were the legend and I followed on in your shadow smile

I can recall recall my childhood watching Richard Greene as Robin Hood on TV. I remember Paul Eddington playing Will Scarlett in later series. Little John is buried in a churchyard in Hathersage, Derbyshire.
Brian Walbey: As you can imagine Robin Hood is promoted in Nottingham and the surrounding area very much.

Oh yes, one of the heroes - worldwide.
Brian Walbey: Very much so even if he wasn't real.
I like this very much having been a huge fan of the book and then TV show when I was a kid.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary.
Of course, there's those who believe he was a Yorkshireman, and those who believe he was from Derbyshire...
Brian Walbey: I've heard that story but then of course it is a story smile
cool shot. (pun intended). Being a "Robin" myself, I've always had an affinity for this particular outlaw smile
Brian Walbey: His story is certainly a money spinner these days in the Nottingham area which isn't far from us.
I have the same childhood memory as Alan. Loved that series. This is a great pose for a Robin Hood statue. Well shot, Brian!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly. It is in a difficult position as regards getting a decent background, I think I got away with it.
