The archetypal Englishman, I liked Graham Hill, and his son, I have some pics of Damon Hill crashing in a saloon car race at Brands hatch.
Brian Walbey: Very much the type of Englishmen you said Frank. Sad that Graham done all those races and then died in a plane crash in 1975, it is surprising just how many motor sport stars die in accidents after they've retired, Mike Hailwood immediately comes to mind.
It must have been exciting to stand on this corner!
Brian Walbey: It was Elizabeth, this corner has been reshaped to slow the drivers down but even now it is 130+ mph. so it would have been faster back in 1973!

He was a famous driver.

I like the nostalgia in these. I remember seeing Bruce McLaren racing in New Zealand when I was but a little nipper
Brian Walbey: I find it difficult to believe I took thes epictures 45 years ago, time goes too fast! McLarens name continues of course with the current F1 team although they are not having a very good time at the moment.
Graham Hill was barking mad but a great driver

Graham Hill was one of our greats. No need for bling in his days!
Brian Walbey: And a real character as well. Sad that he done all those races and then died in a plane crash in 1975, it is surprising just how many motor sport stars die in accidents after they've retired, Mike Hailwood immediately comes to mind.
Great action shot - yes, a pity about Hill, he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.
Brian Walbey: he was a real character which is more than can be said for todays lot.
