Coniston Church 2/5

Many of the features in the Church worthy of mention refer back to the patrons and benefactors of Coniston – the Le Fleming family, who built Coniston Hall in 1270, and who have remained there until recent times, and the Barratt family who established themselves in Coniston in the 1820’s to develop the copper mines.

Its uncomplicated appearance appeals to me, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Yes I thought the simplicity is rather nice.

That is a particularly wide nave for a small church, Brian
Brian Walbey: It is the entire church from ide to side, there aren't any side parts as in many churches.

Its good to know that those who have made money from the area have contributed to the facilities.
Brian Walbey: Back in the old days the local Lords and landowners used to put money into the churches as an advertisment of their wealth and importance.
We have both stepped inside our respective churches today Brian. This is a nice simple building inside by the look of it
Brian Walbey: It is a nice little church, but it looks quite modern, being only 1999 years old, compared with your church today.

A very ornate cross beam or whatever it is called.
Brian Walbey: It certainly looks very strong.
Very simple.
Brian Walbey: That was one of the things I liekd about it.
A nice bright and clean shot
Brian Walbey: Thanks to a nice brian and clean church Claudio.
