Manx Grand Prix Moments 1/5

The Manx Grand Prix motorcycle races are held on the Isle of Man TT Course every year at the end of August and early September. The Manx is considered to be the amateur rider's alternative and a learning experience for the Isle of Man TT races held in May/June. I attended 7 Manx’s between 1968 and 1974, this series is just 5 of the many shots I took over that time using my first 35mm. camera, a short telephoto lens and lford or Kodak Ektachrome slide film.

You are very good at this, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ray, hard to think I took this 47 years ago.

He only came fifth then
Brian Walbey: Not bad out of about 80 or so starters though.
You are an expert on motorcycling Brian ...did you ever race?

The Isle and motorcycles. I was commenting to someone that it is a wonder that motorcycles are still allowed on Man, the way they are. Normally, the authorities go crazy to ban and regulate gatherings like these.
Brian Walbey: Well the TT races started in 1907 and the Manx GP in 1923, in all honesty as much as I love motorcycle racing, and have since 1961, the machines really are far to fast these days I feel to race on closed public roads, in 1971 a good bike would do about 130 mph. but now we are looking at 200+ mph, far too fast!

a pleasure to view these shots, Brian. you have an extensive record of very competent photography, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ayush, hard to believe I took this 47 years ago.
Things were certainly simpler back then in many ways, Brian.
Brian Walbey: The bikes certainly were, no computerised bits and pieces and endless adjustmenmts of the frame and suspension etc.
Fine action shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.

How bikes and even the clothing have changed over the years.
Brian Walbey: And full face helmets instead of what used to be called 'bone domes!'
