Stapleford Park Country Fair 4/7

Besides the miniature railway at Stapleford Park there was an extensive country fair so a few shots from that this week. There was quite a large number of these miniature traction engines at the event including ‘Tracey Jane’ which was built between 1988 and 2003 and is registered a Q37 XAV and is owned by Stephen Lee.

J'aime beaucoup cet engin.
Brian Walbey: There was quite a few like this running about the showground.
A fine piece of machinery, I think I can guess why he extended the chimney...smile
Brian Walbey: There was at least a couple of dozen of these runing about.
Cute! Did you have a go?
Brian Walbey: No they weren't there to give the general public rides, but there was a lot of them about.

It's got plenty of power Brian!

The lady looks amused.
Brian Walbey: It was anice afternoon for a ride on the back.
It must have been a labour of love to build that!
Brian Walbey: I agree Tom, although there was upwards of a couple of dozen at the event altogether.
To be able to build something like this must be immensely satisfying Brian
Brian Walbey: I would imagine it is, it is far beyond anything I could possibly do.

She looks nice and relaxed on the trailer
Brian Walbey: I'm assuming the driver is her husband and she enjoys riding along on the trailer. Actually I'm just thinking, the engine is called 'Tracey Jane', I wonder if that is her name and he has named it after her.

I've just returned from a long day out at the Great Dorset Steam Fair; there were over 500 steam engines to make their 50th Anniversary and a fair number were miniatures such as these. The work that goes in both little and large is probably around the same; just in a bigger scale for the full size engines.
Brian Walbey: That must have been a great dya out Alan. At least the parts on the little ones aren't so heavy to work with.
