Stourport Upon Severn 2/7

Stourport came into being around the canal basins at the Severn terminus of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, which was completed in 1768. In 1772 the junction between the Staffordshire and Worcestershire and the Birmingham Canal was completed and Stourport became one of the principal distributing centres for goods to and from the rest of the West Midlands.

Judging from this view they have moved on from the canal barges, what a shock the original canal workers would have seeing these modern cruisers,
Brian Walbey: There is a real mix of cruisers and modern style narow boats, this is one small area of the canal basin.
Such lovely colors!
Brian Walbey: Just for a change, for me, the sunw as shining, of late it has generally been dull when I take pictures.

I like this picture Brian. If I were a judge I would look favourably upon it
Brian Walbey: Thanks Chris, we have a 'non-important' competition in early September, I might include this in my set of four entries.

What lovely setting. II assume the pleasure cruisers are more for the Severn rather than the canals; they would be too high to pass under the canal bridges.
Brian Walbey: I think you are probably right Alan.
It is a long time since I went to the canal basin. Nice shot!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill. I found that area quite interesting.

That looks a fine building Brian, and a nice watery image.
Brian Walbey: I very much like the clock tower, there are other fine buildings I'm showing later in the week.

This looks my sort of pace, Brian
Brian Walbey: There is quite a lot to walk round and see.
And, if they had made the canals as wide as in Germany and France, we'd still be using them!
Brian Walbey: I'm sure we would Tom.
