This looks really great in B&W!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Elizabeth.
Good b/w, I didn't know that, Brian.
Brian Walbey: I believe people were buried at Grasmere, Wordsworth certainly was. Alan said there is a circular walk including Rydal and Grasmere and part of it is over the coffin path so that may explain a lot.

No shortage of building stone then, Brian
Brian Walbey: To the left is what appears to be a small quarry area so I guess that might be where the stone came from.

They must have a graveyard somewhere where the earth is softer
Brian Walbey: I believe people were buried at nearby Grasmere, Wordsworth certainly was.

It looks good in b&w. The burials happened at Gramsere and the coffins were taken along what became known as the coffin path. There are stones at intervals at long the path where the coffin was rested to give the bearers a rest.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Alan. I have passed this comment on to Frank who knows the area and asked about buriels. No doubt he has walked that path many times.
An excellent composition the works well in B&W Brian
Brian Walbey: Thanks Bill.
B&W certainly suits it.
Brian Walbey: The colour version was quite flat so the B.& W.comes out better.
