Hawkshead Parish Church 4/7

Another external shot of St Michael’s & All Angels parish church at Hawkshead this time taken from the southeastern end of the building. It is quite a steep climb up to the church from the main street below.

Jolie église, j'aime le clocher.
Brian Walbey: A nice and solid looking building isn't it.
I love churches on hills! Lovely image!
Brian Walbey: The views from up by the church across the town to the mountains beyond are really good.
A fine image of a fine building Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank.

It looks very uniform from outside
Brian Walbey: Both sides are more or less the same rather than bits and pieces added on later.

Often a Church on a high spot means it is on a pagan site
Brian Walbey: I didn't know tnat Lisl, one thing is the magnificent views for up there of the mountains in the distance.
It is an imposing building Brian
Brian Walbey: Very solidly built.

Now it looks very long Brian.
Brian Walbey: It is quite long Chad, and uniform in shape from side to side.
Fine shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom, the church looked good from this angle.

Brian Walbey: Thanks Rob. I believe your part of Australia is quite arid.

What a large church with long naves. The quite a steep climb up to the church might be a challenge for the older people, but the churches are often on the top of a town.
Brian Walbey: It is not as steeper climb as it seems in this picture Philine, the views from up there are really good.

Perhaps the churchgoers thought that they were climbing up to Heaven?
Brian Walbey: Perhaps they did Alan, it certainly towers above the town.
