Hawkshead Parish Church 2/7

The interior of Hawkshead church is full of things to look at and is thickly whitewashed. The five-bay arcades consist of segmental arches carried on round piers, without capitals or bases. The wall paintings are still present.

It has a very attractive interior Brian, it looks well looked after.
Brian Walbey: It is spotless Frank and there are lots of things to look at as you can see.

Splendid...I really like the leading lines and soft colors. The treatment on the wood makes it look so soft and alive.
Brian Walbey: It is certainly very photogenic, fortunately Maureen and I had it to ourselves for quite a while which helped with taking photos.
The wood adds such warmth!
Brian Walbey: Yes it does, one can see in this little church why at some churches the fellowship is unhappy when beautiful church furniture like this is taken out and replaced with modern chairs, the parish church in Shepshed where we live done that a few years ago, there are some who would like to do it in the Baptist chapel we go to.

Just look at all those plaques
Brian Walbey: There is just so much to look at and photograph, Lisl would be in her element in this church.

Oh, really full of things, votive boards? I like this church and its warm atmosphere.
Brian Walbey: I thought you would like this church Philine, there is just so much to look at and photograph, Lisl would be in her element in this church.
It is a delightful interior Brian

I like the way they put these sheds together smile
My eye is drawn up toward the rafters and high placed windows, Brian. Did you see any stained glass in this particular Parish Church?
Brian Walbey: There is stained glass at the east end window in the chancel and down both sides in the windows there.

I like the richness of the wood of the pews especially.

How nice to see a Church that has still so much to see inside
Brian Walbey: I think you would love this little church Lisl, there is indeed so much to see and photograph.
This is even better than I could have imagined, Brian, probably especially because of the whitewashed walls to brighten it all up!
Brian Walbey: Thanks for taking time to look at this Ginnie, I thought you would like this lovely little church. BTW Philine picked up on Mondays picture there is a weather vane on the top of the tower, I had forgotten about that. My only worry about the whitewash is that possibly some of the old wall paintings might have been covered up over the years.
