Rydal Hall 5/7

In the centre of the staircase I showed yesterday is this Greco Roman style shelter with some sort of drinking fountain inside it. We didn’t try it out needless to say!

Say welcome to our Caroline's new pet, it goes by the name of Montgomery although she thinks it might be a lady but she likes the name. Not quite a suitable playmate for Reggie the Bulldog though! It had a great time 'running' round our garden on Wednesday afternoon when she came to visit.

J'avais aussi une tortue lorsque j'étais enfant.
Brian Walbey: That must have been fun Martine.
Some nice stonework there, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Quite impressive isn't it. You realise this was only about 5 minutes walk from where you and E stayed near Ambleside.
Some very good detail there...
Hello Montgomery! Love your shell!
Brian Walbey: Nice stonework isn't it.

I'm not sure I'd trust that drinking fountain
Brian Walbey: I certainly didn't.
It's a portico for the fountain, Brian, and makes a nice invitation, even if you don't drink the water.

Welcome to Montgomery! May she live a nice, long life.
Brian Walbey: I definitely wouldn't try the water. I'm not sure how long Montgomery is, my daughter took her from a friend who couldn't keep her for some reason.

Great symmetry here and yes always be careful with fountains like that.
Montgomery looks like she had fun in your garden, do you keep her as your lawnmower?? wink
Brian Walbey: No way would I try the water even though the portico is very nice. Monty lives with our daughter near Nottingham but she called in for us to see it on the way to our granddaughters who is Tortoise sitting for two weeks while Caroline holidays in the Greek islands, lucky thing!

I didn't realise one could still buy a tortoise. Please tell me more
Brian Walbey: Our Carolines friend had Mongomery for a while but for some reason couldn't keep her so Caroline decided to have her, she isn't, of course, much trouble. Caroline called in for us to see it on the way to our granddaughters who is Tortoise sitting for two weeks while Caroline holidays in the Greek islands, lucky thing! I gather Monty has already had an accident on their carpet!

It looks interesting and unusual Brian. I don’t blame you for not trying the water.
Brian Walbey: Yes I like the surround but definitely wouldn't try the water.

Almost a temple. That tortoise can become quite old.
Brian Walbey: It is temple like. I don't know how old Monty is, our daughter took her off a friend who for various reasons couldn't keep it any longer.
that is a very nice entrance to the Hall Brian... that is a good portrait of Montgomery....petersmile
Brian Walbey: Thanks Peter.

A lovely cool spot I should think away from the year-round searing heat of Cumbria smile
Brian Walbey: It certainly wasn't searing heat when I took this on 2nd.July!!
