Rydal Hall 2/7

There is a formal garden with geometric beds, set against natural rolling woodland. On both sides of the garden are arbours created by concrete columns supporting wooden lintels which support climbing roses. This is taken from the opposite direction to yesterdays picture.

They need a bit more WHOOSH in that fountain, instead of that dribble. But it's a lovely scene though..

Calm but with a sense of emptiness Brian.
Brian Walbey: Fortunately we had the garden almost to ourselves at that time.
Capability Brown would not have approved grin
Brian Walbey: At least the hills and mountains are the real thing, Mr.Brown had to build his own a lot of the time smile
Très belle prise de vue , ce jardin est très bien entretenu
Brian Walbey: It is a very nice garden and appeared to be very well looked after.

You don't get much more formal than that, Brian
Brian Walbey: Looks nice doesn't it.
A nice layout, I do like water features.
Brian Walbey: Rather attractive isn't it.
Oh I just love this - simple but lovely. The symmetry is peaceful!
Brian Walbey: It is a nicely laid out garden and less than five minutes from where you and Frank stayed.
