Grasmere Lake 3/5

The waters of the lake are leased by the Lowther Estate to the National Trust. The waters are navigable, with private boats allowed and rowing boats for hire, but powered boats are prohibited. The lake contains a single island, known as The Island. In 2017 this island was bequeathed to the National Trust.

The forewater might be even better than the background,Brian.

I love the Adventurers' jetty.
Brian Walbey: I really liked this viewpoint, but I think the jetty had seen better days smile
A good shot to celebrate the anniversary, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks very much Frank.
I love those grasses!
Congratulations on your 3500th post!
Brian Walbey: This was a good viewpoint. I can't believe I've put so many pictures on SC, there's still plenty more to come, God blessing.

Brian Walbey: It is a nice little area to one side of the lake in the grounds of a tearoom. Err that is 3500 not 35000 BTW smile

Thank goodness that powered boats are banned, 5hey really destroy the peace.
Brian Walbey: I didn't see any power boats although i opresume those people responsible for maintaining the lake would have powered boats.

Congratulations on this milestone post!

Another lovely serene image.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Anne, that's a lot of pictures isn't it.
Would fishing this lake be permitted by the National Trust, Brian? Congrats on reaching the 3,500 milestone!
Brian Walbey: Thanks Beverly. I guess fishing would be allowed, at a price!
Ducks would love that swamped boardwalk. A pleasing place.

Congrats on 3500, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary. I'm surpriased that boardwalk hasn't been rescued and repaired.
power boats are prohibited on many small lakes here in Canada as well Brian... this is a nice composition....petersmile
Brian Walbey: I suspect the National trust use a powerboat for maintencance purposes.

Power boats would really spoil the peace and tranquility. I do believe that there was an outcry when they imposed on speed limit on Windermere a few years ago from the boaties. I think the jetty could do with some TLC.
Brian Walbey: I suspect the National trust use a powerboat for maintencance purposes, but speedboats really would spoil things.
