Coniston has a fast moving stream running through the centre of the village, no doubt finding its way down from the fells to the west of the village and making its way to Coniston Water a short way away outside of the village.

A toy boat would slip along there quickly, Brian...I suppose the local kids use it that way?
Brian Walbey: I dare say it would be a good place for kids to play as long as the water is not running too fast.
A very nice pic', Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Frank.
It must be lovely listening to the stream from one of those homes!
Brian Walbey: In winter I guess the water could be a bit loud in times of heavy rain and melting snow, we once stayed in the Chainbridge Hotel just outside Llangollen in Wales and our room looked out over the river and rapids and at night it was so loud it was difficult to sleep.

I expect the water has come down a great height from those hills
Brian Walbey: I would think so Chris.
It doesn't take much for a river to run through it, Brian, does it!
Brian Walbey: Little rivers like this are all over the Lake District.

I can just hear the river, Brian. Wonderful greens her too, wonderful view.
Brian Walbey: It is in the centre of the village and is a pleasant place to stand and listen to the waters.

I can't place this view but I know the stream (I think) as it gets closer to the lake; I think it follows the road down t the steam launch dock.
Brian Walbey: This stream is the one that flows under the bridge in the centre of the village.

I do like the view of this stream Brian. Very agreeable.
Brian Walbey: It is a nice little stream that runs right through the centre of the village.

I can imagine this in spate after heavy rain, Brian
Brian Walbey: Yes I would think it would rush down that gully very heavily.

A good place for a boy to get lost in adventure.
Brian Walbey: Sadly in these PC times I don't think boys are allowed to have much in the way of adventures nowadys, I don't know about you but I had great tiems with my friends when I was a young lad.

You can almost hear its ripples and movement Brian.
Brian Walbey: It is certainly a nice little stream.
What a study of green and water.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Mary.
The sound of water like this is a delight.
Brian Walbey: I couldn't agree more Bill.
... and do you catch trout in them? smile
The hardness of the water makes you think so
Brian Walbey: I don't know Claudio, it is in the middle of the village and doesn't look easy to get down to.
