The organ in St.Mary’s church is a Hope Jones organ installed in 1898 and was one of the first that utilised electric actions, the invention of its builder.

I am sure it is a fine instrument, Brian, but it does seem to have been pushed into a handy alcove like a box of beer that visitors keep tripping over.
Brian Walbey: Church organs are usually tucked away in archways like this, the seating in front is for the choir so the tow factors work together very well.
Wow, isn't that wonderful!
Brian Walbey: It is, I would loved to have heard it being played, I like the sound of church organs, I had a go on one many years ago but was completely lost, I couldn't fathom out using two keyboards and then there's the footpedals!!!

There's a big tonal range in all those pipes Brian
Brian Walbey: I would think so Chris, I would liked to have heard it being played.

Plain and simple!
Brian Walbey: Very much so, shame it wasn't being played.

Did you hear the organ playing?
Brian Walbey: Sadly not, this was the middle of a weekday morning.
I hope you got to hear it, Brian.

I am not a regular visitor to churches, but I would go there just to watch and listen to the organ

I bet this sounds wonderful assuming it can be played properly.
Brian Walbey: I would have like to have heard it being played, this was the middle of a weekday morning.
It looks a modest organ but is of great historical interest Brian
