Elvaston Castle Walled Garden 6/7

The Elvaston Castle Old English Garden is a hidden gem within the grounds of the country park and is really worth a visit. This walled garden, although not large, was originally an area for plants under glass within which fruit, vegetables and exotic plants were grown for the Stanhope family. Redesigned in the 1970’s, it's now a quiet corner of the park.

This is just one small selection from a whole flower bed of different coloured Lupins, this was Maureens picture taken at the same place and which I featured a while back in a seris of her photos.

Astonishing colours in these flars, Brian.
Brian Walbey: A whole range of different varieties, they reminded me of my Dad, he always had a good show of Lupins in his garden.

Très jolis mélanges de couleurs.
Brian Walbey: More varieties than I've ever seen before.
So beautiful - we don't have such a variety of Lupine colors!
Brian Walbey: I've never seen quite so many different varieties, they reminded me of my Dad, he always had a good show of Lupins in his garden.

I have just caught up with this garden series, Brian, and love the Lupins most of all. I have been seeing wild Lupins whilst away
Brian Walbey: Thanks for catching up Lisl, I've never seen quite so many different varieties, they reminded me of my Dad, he always had a good show of Lupins in his garden.
What gorgeous lupins! Lupins are synonymous with PEI by Easterners.

Oh, I love the Lupins - after the WWII they covered large ruin grounds, and in Kamp Westerbork they were a pleasure for the arrested persons, esp. the Jews.
Brian Walbey: They are such lovely flowers, there were a lot in this garden I hadn't seen before. I have seen them growing wild before, fortunately not in awful places such as the one you suggest.
Woo - colour blast!
Brian Walbey: There was a real mix of colours, some quite new to me.

Crikey! Another lower I can recognise. I especially like those with the dark purple flowers,
Brian Walbey: There was a real mix of different kinds, I especially liked the ones with more than oen colour.
