Elvaston Castle Walled Garden 3/7

The Elvaston Castle Old English Garden is a hidden gem within the grounds of the country park and is really worth a visit. This walled garden, although not large, was originally an area for plants under glass within which fruit, vegetables and exotic plants were grown for the Stanhope family. Redesigned in the 1970’s, it's now a quiet corner of the park.

I could happily sit reading in that gazebo, Brian.
Brian Walbey: So could I Frank, we had the garden almost to ourselves that day.
So carefully manicured!
Brian Walbey: It is a very well looked after garden, I think the local authority is in charge of it.

A coffee and/or a good book...that shade-house [sala] looks inviting, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Sounds like a good idea to me Ray, I'm currently part way through the latest thriller by David Baldacci, I'm finding it difficult to put it down, it's the same with all his novels.
What a great place for a cozy moment or two, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Very much so Ginnie, we had the garden almost to ourselves that day.

Joli petit kiosque dans la verdure.
Brian Walbey: A quite place to sit and relax undisturbed.

I like the colour of those blooms Brian, they contrast so well with green.
Brian Walbey: Most of that bed was flowers of a similar colour, quite soothing really.

Nobody (except you) around - so it will be a nice quiet corner.
Brian Walbey: We did have the garden almost to ourselves Louis, the benefit of being retired and families with children etc.are at work or school.

Much appreciated by all the buzzy, fluttery things, too, I expect. The bandstand looks a bit small, though smile
Brian Walbey: I'm not sure if it is supposed to be a badnstand or just somewhere to sit.
A rather nice gazebo in the corner Brian
Brian Walbey: Somewhere to sit quietly on a sunny day, if we ever get another one of those!

This is so idyllic, Brian. what a wonderful garden.
Brian Walbey: There are several nice little corners like this.
A place to stop, or where to meet
Brian Walbey: Indeed Claudio, there are several quiet corners like this.

i love this view of the bandstand with the explosion of colours in the bushes, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Ayush. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be a badnstand or just somewhere to sit.
Lovely shot, Brian.
Brian Walbey: Thanks Tom.
Ooh! The purple section! Pretty!
Brian Walbey: I seem to recall most of that flower bed was purple.
