Tyneham Village 4/10

In the centre of the village, just outside the churchyard of St.Mary’s church is this spring with the following words from John 4:13 inscribed in the stonework “whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

I like the bench, lurking in the dappled shadows, Brian.
Brian Walbey: It is quite a pleasant spot to sit for a while Ray.

Everlasting life in Tyneham, a bit quiet these days..
Brian Walbey: Being a really sunny Sunday afternoon it was quite busy with families but everybody seemd to respect the sad history of the village and it was all very sociable.

I expect people took comfort from the words on the fountain. I wonder what the people thought when they were ordered out of their village?
Brian Walbey: I can imagine the people were devastated they had to leave and even more so when they weren't allowed back.
That is some special water.
Brian Walbey: I must admit I didn't fancy tasting it and I didn't see anybody else doing so either.
At least it won't have micro plastics in it like the rubbish people buy in bottles grin
Brian Walbey: That's true Bill, we rarely ever buy a bottle of water, large or small.

This source of fresh water may be why there was a settlement there in the first place, Brian
Brian Walbey: I would imagien you are right, only one house had running water.
